Title: Dr Who
Description: Someone explain

I've tried to watch it on a couple of occasions but I have a difficult time keeping interested. Perhaps it's one of those shows that you need to watch from the beginning or maybe I’m just not giving it a chance. Why do you love it? Explain your passion.

I'll say this...if you're just getting into it, watching with a fan is probably a good idea. Then, they can explain some of the background stuff that you don't see. Dr. Who has been going on continuously (in one form or another) since the 1960's so there's a LOT to keep track of.

The thing is, the Doctor is a champion of the humans and the good in general. As a Time Lord, he has amazing abilities and while he can step in to an extent, he also isn't trying to create or lead 'timelines.'

Then there are the relationships the Doctor has with his companions. There is a part of him that will always be alone, but another part that reaches out and his companions fill that need for...well...companionship.

The stories are pretty well done as well and there is humor, angst, drama and everything rolled in, so all in all, the show has it all. :happy1:

Does that get to what you were wanting?

Yeah sort thanks for your input. It sounds rather complicated though. It's been running through the 60s? So what’s airing now isn’t a new version but the continuation only with new actors playing the same characters?

About Doctor Who

Used to watch the re-runs with my dad and we all sat round the telly when the new series aired. I did stop watching it for a while but after catching an episode last year I got back into it.

Well...not exactly.

As a Time Lord, the Doctor 'regenerates' instead of dying. Looks and sometimes act TOTALLY different. That's why you get Who fans talking about their 'favorite' Doctors. The current one is Doctor #10...David Tennant. The longest on on screen thus far with Tom Baker (Doctor #4.) He was the one with the long scarf. Doctor #8 (I don't recall his name) has actually played the Doctor longest (but in radio plays.)

As to the companions, they change out regularly too.

There are some things that stay the same. Dalek's are the nemesis of the Doctor (as are the Cybermen.) You see other recurring themes as well.

The Master is another Time Lord that's evil. He comes back from time to time.

As I say...good to watch with someone who knows WHO until you get hooked (and you will.) Just gotta stay with it awhile.

Oh ok. That helps.

I don't know a single person who watches the show so it look as if I'll have to go it alone.

8th Doctor - Sylvester McCoy.

Best thing to do Sara is to watch the TV Movie with Paul McGann. That explains the Doctor in some detail and is directed at those who have never seen the TV series.

I've loved Dr. Who from the 60s. I remember the Daleks were cool as heck. Tom Baker is generally acknowledged as the most beloved incarnation of the good Doctor.

The theme music rocks too! :rab24:
